There Is

Yesterday was Easter and it was an amazing weekend of friends and family which I will share more about later.  First though, I've had some thoughts floating around.  I want to start this by saying religion is a touchy subject and one that I tread lightly into conversation about; you know the old saying, don't talk about religion or politics with your friends, well, I tend to follow that old saying.  But, I also am a firm believer in not being afraid to speak your mind.  I am an even more firm believer in "to each their own."  I'm just speaking my own mind here...

I am not an extremely religious person in the traditional sense.  If I'm going to be completely honest, church is not something I make it to every Sunday.  However, I don't think that you necessarily have to be in church to have a relationship with God.  So, even though I'm not "religious" in some eyes, I feel I do have spirituality.  I get the feeling of a higher power quite frequently and have little conversations with that higher power more than I actually realize.

For me, being spiritual means taking the time in life to really stop and be.  To stop and notice the smell after a spring rain.  To stop and notice the unabiding love of a moment between a mother and their child.  To stop and notice a stranger in need.  To stop and notice the fruitfulness of harvest.  To stop and notice that sometimes there are no explanations.  To stop and notice the pride in a father's eyes as he watches his child succeed.  To stop and notice that every spring, new life comes to be.  To stop and notice all those little things that happen everyday and then to stop and remember they are all God.

I am thankful for all that He brings to this world.  I do believe there is a God.  There's a song that is sung by Leann Womack and written by Dubois, Chris; Gorley, Ashley which is titled, There is a God and it really hits with my own spirituality.

Try and put your arms around the 100 year old tree

Climb up on a horse

and let it run full speed

Take a look down at the world from 30,000 feet

 on your next flight

Watch a flock of birds

against the morning sun

Close your eyes and listen

to the river run

Catch a firefly in your hand

or a raindrop on your tongue

That's right

There is a God

There is a God

There is a God

How much proof do you need?

Plant a seed and see

what comes out of the ground

Find the heartbeat on your baby's ultrasound

in a few years hear it laughing

and don't it sound like a song?

Stop and think about

what you don't understand

Things like life and love

and how the world began

Hear the doctor say he can't explain it

but the cancer is gone   {or almost...}

There is a God

There is a God

There is a God

How much proof do you need?

Science says it's all just circumstance

Like this whole worlds just an accident

But if you want to shoot that theory down,

Look around

Just look around

There is a God

There is a God

There is a God,

How much proof do you need?

Oh there is a God
There is a God
There is a God
How much proof do you need?
